ITINERARY
DAY 1
ARRIVAL IN BISHKEK
Upon landing at Manas International Airport, our local guide will extend a warm welcome. We’ll swiftly transfer to Bishkek city via a comfortable bus. Situated at an altitude of about 800 meters (2,600 ft), Bishkek is a city of wide boulevards and marble-faced public buildings combined with numerous Soviet-style apartment blocks surrounding interior courtyards. We’ll spend the night in Bishkek, ready to kickstart our Kyrgyzstan adventure.
DAY 2
BISHKEK TO CHUNKURCHAK
Embark on a breathtaking journey from Bishkek to Supara hotel in Chunkurchak, ascending to 8000 feet and reaching the stunning hilltop location where charming Yurts await, promising an unforgettable stay amidst Kyrgyzstan’s natural splendor. Dinner and overnight in the Yurts
DAY 3
CHUNKURCHAK TO BOKONBAEVO VIA SOUTH SHORE OF ISSYK-KUL
Leave Supara Chunkurchak and begin your journey along the southern shores of Issyk-Kul Lake. The route winds through ever-changing terrain, with dramatic landscapes unfolding at every turn. Stop at the surreal Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon to explore it’s colorful rock formations and enjoy lunch enroute. Continue onward to the Barskoon region, known for its waterfalls and Soviet-era lunar rover monument. Arrive by evening in Bokonbaevo and settle into a traditional yurt camp near the lakeside. Later, witness a cultural Shyrdak (felt carpet) demonstration, offering a glimpse into Kyrgyz artisanal traditions.
DAY 4
BOKONBAEVO TO KAJI-SAY
After breakfast, set out for the remote mountain settlement of Inylchek, a journey that takes you deeper into the heart of Kyrgyzstan’s untouched wilderness. The route offers awe-inspiring views of frozen rivers, snow-covered valleys, and jagged peaks towering in the distance. This lesser-traveled path is a true expedition highlight. Upon reaching Inylchek, check in and unwind. As the day fades, head to the nearby natural hot springs for a soul-soothing soak under the open sky—an unforgettable experience surrounded by silence, steam, and snow.
DAY 5
KAJI-SAY TO KARAKOL VIA JETI OGUZ VALLEY
Depart from Kadjisay after breakfast and make your way to the red sandstone cliffs of Dzhety Oguz, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic natural landmarks. Admire the striking formations like the “Seven Bulls” and “Broken Heart” rocks as you continue your journey toward the charming town of Karakol. En route, witness a traditional eagle hunting demonstration—an age-old nomadic practice that offers a powerful glimpse into Kyrgyz heritage. By evening, explore the highlights of Karakol, including its quaint Russian architecture and vibrant market. Conclude the day with a hearty home-cooked dinner hosted by a local Dungan family, known for their warmth and rich culinary traditions.
DAY 6
KARAKOL TO JERGALAN VALLEY
Start your day in Karakol and head towards the remote Jergalan Valley, a winter wonderland nestled deep in the mountains. The journey takes you through dramatic alpine scenery and sleepy snow-covered villages, offering a glimpse of rural Kyrgyz life. Upon arrival, gear up for an adrenaline-pumping snowmobile ride across untouched powder trails—an experience that will leave your heart racing and your soul stirred. Spend the evening unwinding in the peaceful surroundings of your mountain lodge, embraced by the silence of snow and stars.
DAY 7
JERGALAN VALLEY TO CHOLPON ATA
Leave the white wilderness of Jergalan behind and begin your descent towards Issyk-Kul’s northern shores. En route, drive through the majestic Semenovskoe and Grigorevskoe gorges—two of Kyrgyzstan’s most picturesque valleys, where pine forests, frozen rivers, and snow-draped cliffs create a postcard-perfect panorama. Arrive in Cholpon Ata by afternoon and visit the open-air Petroglyph site, home to ancient rock carvings dating back thousands of years. If weather permits, enjoy a tranquil boat ride on the vast Issyk-Kul Lake, framed by snow-capped peaks. Check into your lakeside stay and spend the evening relaxing by the water.
DAY 8
CHOLPON ATA TO BISHKEK
Travel from Cholpon Ata to Bishkek with enriching stops along the way. Explore the historic Burana Tower, an ancient Silk Road-era minaret offering panoramic views from its 11th-century perch. Experience the National Horse Riding Games, showcasing Kyrgyz tradition and skill through various games like horseback archery and wrestling. End the day with a captivating Folklore Show and dinner in Bishkek, savoring Kyrgyzstan’s cultural flavors. Overnight at Novotel Hotel or similar in Bishkek.
DAY 9
FLY OUT
Wake up to your final morning in Bishkek. After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, take some time to explore the city’s vibrant bazaars, Soviet-era architecture, or simply soak in the last views of the snow-capped Ala-Too Range. Bid farewell to your fellow travelers, now comrades of the road, as you head to the airport with stories etched in snow, culture, and camaraderie. Until next time—drive beyond.
